Thinking Beyond VPN For Zero-Trust Access Management

With a majority of the workforce working from home in today’s COVID19-infused socially distanced world, cyber threat to sensitive business data have never been bigger. As employees step out of their corporate network’s safety net, they expose themselves, and in turn the entire corporate network, to cyber attacks due to the inherent vulnerabilities of personal devices and Internet networks. 

A common misconception many organisations harbour have is that deploying a corporate Virtual Private Network (VPN) will insulate them from data breaches. Another misconception is that adding a layer of two-factor authentication (2FA) will suffice to thwart data breaches. While a corporate VPN with 2FA may act as a strong defense mechanism, it is important to understand what kind of second factor is implemented by the organisation.
